About Me
My name is Whitney Pickett and I am a sophomore at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. I founded TurtleTies as a way to help raise money in order to fight ocean pollution when I was in 5th grade at the Spence School in New York City. Turtles as well as many other sea creatures die every year because of an abundance of human waste in the oceans. These creatures help feed us, keep the ocean clean, and do many other vital things. Your contribution will help fight the pollution and keep the animals we treasure safe. 100% of all the profit from the sales of my hand made bracelets, rings, and necklaces will be donated.
When I was nine, I went on a trip to visit to turtles and other animals in the Seychelles. I had previously heard about turtles and their endangerment and when I saw them in person I wanted to help however I could. With other child activists such as Greta Thunberg showing me how young voices could make a change, I started TurtleTies. Since then I have gotten SCUBA certified and traveled to many different places, always keeping an eye out for my favorite sea creature: the turtle.
